In a defining 1994 c0unter-terrorism operation in South Kashmir, then Lt Col Razdan led his troops in a daring mission to rescue 14 women held hostage by m!litants. Despite being sh0t at point-blank range and suffering a devastating spinal injury, he continued fighting and directing the operation. The hostages were eventually rescued, while nine m!litants were neutralised.
His injuries left him permanently paraplegic, but they could not stop his military journey. In 2010, he became the Indian Army’s first wheelchair-bound officer to attain the rank of Major General.
He was awarded the Kirti Chakra for extraordinary gallantry and the Vishisht Seva Medal for distinguished service.Maj Gen Razdan’s life was a powerful example of courage beyond the battlefield ,proving that physical limitations cannot defeat an unbreakable mind and spirit.
The last rites will be held at Brar Square, Delhi Cantonment, on 14 August 2026 at 12:00 PM.
