A Proud Legacy of Service: Daughters, Both Indian Army Majors, Pip Lieutenant General D.P. Singh on His Promotion

NEW DELHI: In a rare and inspiring moment in the history of the Indian Armed Forces, the shoulder insignias of a newly promoted Lieutenant General were pinned on by his own daughters—both serving officers holding the rank of Major in the same force.

During the ceremonial ‘pipping’ ceremony honoring his elevation to the prestigious rank of Lieutenant General, Lt Gen D.P. Singh was presented with his new badges of rank by his daughters. Both women serve the nation with distinction: one is commissioned into the Intelligence Corps, and the other serves as a doctor in the Army Medical Corps (AMC).
Walking the path of duty carved out by their father, witnessing his career milestone, and actively conferring his rank insignia made this a profoundly emotional and historic occasion for both the family and the Indian Army. Lt Gen Singh’s wife was also present, standing by with immense pride as both her husband and daughters exemplified selfless dedication in uniform.
This special ceremony stands as a poignant testament to military heritage, supreme dedication to national service, and the growing prominence of women leaders in the Indian Armed Forces.
